Lucasfilm is suffering a major nostalgia bill, are they able to survive or will they fall victim to their lack of creativity

When Star Was announced that Mark Hamill would be reprising his role as Like Skywalker I was ecstatic to see the dynamic trio (Han,Luke and Leia) back together again then the movie came to theatres and I went to watch it, I brushed off the lack of creativity on the origin homeworld for Rey along with character development on certain characters because of seeing my childhood hero Luke Skywalker once more on the big screens. Then we saw him at then END of the film staring intensely for 5 full seconds of the movie!
Then we were told that in the next one Luke would have a bigger role, and that we'd actually get to see him interact with the other characters. What I saw was not Luke so for the time being until we are able to name the abomination let's call him JAKE because he sure wasn't Luke, absolutely ruined the way I saw Luke it made me hate my most favourite character in all of Star Wars.
how this ties in to the Nostalgia Tax?
by using and then destroying characters to fit ones personal agenda eventually you are bound to exhaust, the pot of characters you can use to pull in your audience. Even that is occurring as we speak. The brought Leia and Han in for episode 7 then knowing they had to paint Leia as a "strong female character" they killed off Han then, Episode 8 they brought in Luke totally and utterly missus him in order to further paint Rey as a Mary Sue and next they are going to use Lando, you don't believe me they already announced that he was going to be cast for his role as Lando and so it's not a mind stretching act to thin k that they will do so again to him. speak up let your voices be heard and proclaim "THIS IS NOT MY SW AND I WANT IT BACK!!"
