What is the truth behind the "academic Award" Kathleen Kennedy received and the truth is astounding.

In recent weeks KK (Kathleen Kennedy) has received an award, originally the publishers of the very first article to debut this (Collider) called it an Oscar. Although that wasn't the entire truth, because there is a secret that you probably haven't heard.

“Just remember folks when people tell you she's getting an Oscar for Star Wars and that the "Phandom Menace" has lost the argument remember she's actually getting a Thalberg Award from a council that she's a member of.”

The "Academic Award" that KK received is NOT an Oscar in all honesty, it's an Irving G. Thalberg Memorial award which is presented to creative producers whose body of work reflects a consistently high quality of motion picture production. which in all honesty she deserves.

The Thalberg award has been awarded since 1937 and has been awarded to people like Walt Disney, Alfred Hitchcock, Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Clint Eastwood and Warren Beatty. When you look at it from that angle it's a very prestigious award to receive.

Looking at the Wiki page for KK says that she has been in 60 sum films, although her role in them was as an executive producer. Now an Executive producer (EP) is one of the top positions in the making of commercial entertainment. Depending on the medium the EP may be concerned with the management, accounting or associated with the legal issues like for example copyrights and royalties, in films however the EP, generally contributes to the films budget. while not working on set, they still do a lot in overseeing production.

The Thalberg award that KK just happens to have received is given out by the board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences or the MAPS academy. the entire board isn't really of interest except for one member... KK, convenient right?
